The benefits of Remote Support software

At Amber Accounting we know that computers are a very important part of our clients business and that when an issue arises with their accounting systems it can be difficult explaining exactly what has occurred and how it can be resolved. To enable us to assist our clients while they are on the phone we use remote support software. This article describes the benefits of using a remote support application.
Remote support software is easy to use and more importantly is effortless to setup. What’s more, no installation is necessary and the client is only required to have web access in order to use it. This is beneficial as some clients may object to installing new software onto their computers in case there are compatibility issues with other applications they might have running.
The main benefit of using this type of software is that we, the accountant, can perform a remote screen share with a client in a matter of minutes without having to leave the office. This means that we can resolve any accountancy related problems they may be having much more quickly and efficiently. We can also transfer files between our computers, eliminating the need for posting or collection of backups which takes time and can also be a security risk.
The use of remote support software is highly secure. All remote access communications are encrypted and the ID and password of a client pc is requested before we can access it. This means that the transfer of files back and forth between accountant and client as well as general data access is much safer than other methods.
As there is no requirement for the client to install software, the remote support application can be used to access any pc within their office or home, making it more convenient for the client as they don’t have to limit themselves to one pc or location. As well as this there will be no firewall or router problems because the client pc keeps a connection to a remote support server which can be used to connect to the pc without making changes to their network setup.
An additional benefit of remote support software is that while we are working on the client pc they can watch from their end and can take control of the mouse at any time. This can put the client’s mind at rest and also help them learn and understand what we are doing by talking them through the steps or allowing them to carry out the work themselves if they so wish.
Remote support software has changed the way we help our clients with their accounting software issues, making it quicker and easier to securely resolve issues that may have previously taken significantly longer.
