Many software providers are now offering online accounting packages as an alternative to a traditional “off the shelf” system.

With online systems all processing is done via a secure website. This allows the information to be accessed from several locations, such as at the client premises and in the accountants office. This is an advantage as you are not restricted to only one computer having access to the accounting system.

Online system users pay a monthly user fee rather than a one off purchase price for the software, meaning that there is not a large up front expense when implementing the new system. Users of these systems will also benefit from having a current version of the accounting software rather than having to repurchase or upgrade to a new version each year.
